Comedian and YouTube personality Grace Helbig was born in 1985 in Woodbury, New Jersey. While in college at Ramapo’s School of Contemporary Arts, Grace formed a sketch comedy troupe; although she at the time didn’t have any specific intention to enter the world of entertainment, she did compete in the Miss New Jersey USA pageant, rising to the semi-finals before being eliminated.
Helbig began a daily vlog in 2007, after accepting a job to house-sit for a family in New Jersey. Although the vlog, titled “GracieHinABox,” was meant to alleviate Helbig’s boredom, it rose to incredible popularity on YouTube thanks to Grace’s wit and entertaining delivery. By the following year, Grace had launched her own YouTube channel, Grace’n’Michelle, in partnership with her roommate Michelle.
Since that time, Grace Helbig has risen to not only host a variety of YouTube channels and web series, but launch her own podcast (Not Too Deep with Grace Helbig) and serve as correspondence for the G4 network. Although she continues to be an online sensation, with millions of followers, Helbig has also recently forayed into entertainment as a producer, serving in key roles on the feature films Dirty 30 and Camp Takota. She has also written two books, Grace & Style: The Art of Pretending You Have It; and Grace’s Guide: The Art of Pretending to Be a Grown-up. She appears frequently on a variety of talk shows, and most recently, Grace Helbig made the leap to the big screen with the E! network’s limited series, The Grace Helbig Show. The show, which lasted for eight episodes, launched in 2015 and offered a unique blend of talk show format and comedy format.
Grace Helbig is clearly a rising star in the comedy and online world, and one to watch in the coming years. Grace most recently appeared in the documentary, Vlogumentary, which chronicles the rise of the vlogging phenomenon and evaluates its future. She also voiced the character of Cookie Sugarloaf for the hit 2016 film, Trolls.
