Famous American restaurateur and chef Andrew Carmellini as born in 1971 in Ohio. Andrew fell in love with the culinary arts as a young teenager, experimenting with different flavors in his family kitchen when he was as young as fourteen years old. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, Carmellini went on to launch his career as a chef in a number of Italian restaurants in New York City, before departing for Italy to further study the cuisine of the area.
In the mid 1990’s, Andrew Carmellini expanded his area of focus to include French cooking, accepting a position first at New York City’s Le Cirque, and then later at Café Boulud. It was at Café Boulud that Carmellini began to truly make a name for himself, remaining there for six years and garnering rave reviews from the New York Times. This success was followed by his launch of the restaurant A Voce, then Locanda Verde, and finally The Lafayette, located in New York’s NoHo neighborhood, which opened in 2013.
Andrew Carmellini continues his career as one of America’s most notable chefs. In addition to his high-profile interviews and public appearances, Carmellini is also the author of two cookbooks: Urban Italian: True Stories and Simple Recipes from a Life in Food (2008); and American Flavor (2011.)
