During his formative years, Humm learned the art of fine dining in various hotels and restaurants throughout Switzerland. By the time he was only twenty-four, he’d earned his first Michelin star, and set his sights on the United States to continue his career.
In San Francisco, Daniel first took a position at Campton Place as executive chef of the establishment. His accolades quickly grew, earning four stars from the San Francisco Chronicle and rave reviews from multiple other publications. After a few years in San Francisco, Humm moved to New York to serve as Eleven Madison Park’s executive chef, where he earned three Michelin Stars, a listing on San Pellegrino’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants, and six James Beard Foundation Awards, including ones for Outstanding Restaurant in American and Outstanding Chef.
Currently, Daniel Humm is the co-owner of the restaurant NoMad in New York. The restaurant has earned a Michelin Star and three stars from the New York Times. The restaurant has become a New York favorite for its focus on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Humm is also the author of three books: Eleven Madison Park: The Cookbook (2011), I Love New York: Ingredients and Recipes (2013), and The NoMad Cookbook (2015.)
