The American chef and television personality Anne Burrell was born in 1969 in upstate New York in town of Cazenovia. After graduating with her degree in English from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, Anne went on to study at the Culinary Institute of America before studying at the Italian Culinary Institute in the Piedmont region of Italy.
Burrell began her professional culinary experience in various restaurants in the Tuscany area of Italy. After returning to the United States, Anne began work in a number of different restaurants in the New York area, garnering the interest of chef Mario Batali. In 2005, Batali approached Burrell and asked her to serve as one of his sous chefs for the pilot episode of the Food Network’s new series, Iron Chef America.
Iron Chef America became Anne Burrell’s television breakthrough, and within a few years she’d grown to become one of the most recognizable personalities on the Food Network. In 2009, the network debuted Burrell’s own show, Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, and then in 2010 she began hosting Worst Cooks in America first alongside Chef Beau MacMillan, and then later in 2012 alongside Chef Bobby Flay.
Today, Anne Burrell is one of the most recognizable personalities on the Food Network. She most recently hosted the show Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell, which ran for three seasons starting in 2012.
