Venezuelan- American soccer player Juan Pablo Galavis was born in 1981 in Ithaca, New York. Although Galavis was known by soccer fans for his talents on the field during the 2000’s, today Juan is best known to general audiences as the first Latino star of the ABC reality competition series The Bachelor.
Galavis moved to Venezuela with his family when he was only two years old; he spent his formative years growing up in the country and learning to play soccer. After graduating from high school. Juan returned to America to attend Roberts Wesleyan College and play soccer for the school. He then went on to play in the Primera Divison Venezolana and then finished his career with the Miami FC.
After retiring from soccer in 2008, Galavis first endeavored to enter the music business as a promoter. Settling in Miami, he began to work with a number of Venezuelan artists, in particular the duo Chino y Nacho. He also worked as a television presenter for Miami’s Mega News and appeared in a number of commercials before landing the coveted gig as one of ABC’s “bachelors” for the show’s eighteenth season. After choosing Nikki Ferrell to be his partner at the end of the season, the two dated briefly but by the fall of 2014 the relationship had ended.
Today, Juan Galavis is still a well-recognized television personality and he continues to make public appearances. He has also returned to working in the music industry in promotion and management.
