As one of the alligator hunters featured on the History channel’s series Swamp People, Junior Edwards is best known not only for his unusual hunting skills, but also for his adept fishing skills in general. Alongside his son Willie, Junior hunts alligators from dawn to dusk in the Atchafalaya River Basin of Louisiana during the height of the season, enthralling audiences with the unique techniques used to capture the formidable and terrifying creatures.
Of course, Junior and his family had been hunting gators for generations before producers from the History channel approached them with the offer to appear in a reality show based on their unique profession. In 2010, Junior joined the cast of Swamp People for its very first season, and he has remained with the show ever since. The series follows Junior, Willie, and other families who make their living through this three-hundred year old hunting tradition. The show also frequently explores their lives during the off-season, when they often fish or hunt other animals. Junior, in particular, is also a highly and successful fisherman in addition to being a skilled alligator hunter.
Swamp People was recently renewed for its eighth season, which premiered in February of 2016, and continues to feature Junior Edwards and his son Willie.
