The American reality star Vicki Gunvalson was born in 1962 in a suburb of Chicago. Today, Gunvalson is best known for her role as one of the “housewives” on The Real Housewives of Orange County, but Vicki grew up with no aspirations to enter the world of entertainment. She grew up in a family of five children in a very traditional home; her father worked in the construction industry and her mom was a stay-at-home mother who made family her priority.
The traditional values with which Vicki was raised are evident in her appearances on Real Housewives; on the show Gunvalson is known not only for her family dedication but also for the strong work ethic with which she was raised. Prior to marrying Donn Gunvalson in 1994, Vicki endured a divorce and life as a single mother in her twenties, working for her father’s construction company to pay the bills, until she became a licensed insurance agent. She credits these experiences with shaping her character into the woman she is today.
Vicki Gunvalson joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Orange County in 2005 and has remained with the show ever since. She published the book More than a Housewife in 2009, in which she shares her personal insights on parenting, family values, and her experiences on the show.
