The American Journalist Bob Greene was born in 1947 in Ohio. Greene rose to prominence after graduating from Northwestern University in 1969 and starting his career as a feature writer and reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times, which earned him a National Headliner Award in 1977 and launched his career as one of the era’s most notable journalists.
Bob Greene’s contributions to journalism are numerous, and include his best-selling book Billion Dollar Baby, which chronicled his experiences touring with musician Alice Cooper. Some of his publications are compilations of letters or columns – for example, the book Homecoming: When the Soldiers Returned from Vietnam is based on the letters he received from the many veterans were well less than well-received upon their return to the United States. Others are accounts of his own personal experiences, as with And You Know You Should be Glad: A True Story of Lifelong Friendship (which accounts the life and death of his friend Jack Roth); and Late Edition: A Love Story (which recalls his days working as an apprentice and copyboy at the Columbus Dispatch.)
Bob Greene continues to write and report. He can continue to be seen on the ABC news program Nightline, and he occasionally writes for Esquire Magazine.
