The television journalist and anchor Deborah Norville was born in Dalton, Georgia. After graduating from the University of Georgia, Norville began her career first on local networks in Atlanta, until in the late 1980’s she was appointed anchor for the NBC program News at Sunrise. Around the same time, she began appearing regularly on Today, alongside Jane Pauley. She also began substituting on NBC Nightly News when Tom Brokaw was not available, and so it was no surprise that by 1989, when Pauley announced her departure from Today, Deborah Norville took her place.
Since that time, Deborah Norville has anchored or co-anchored for a number of different television news programs, including Street Stories, CBS Evening News, America Tonight, and Inside Edition. She has also written and recorded the song "Keep on Moving" (2001), and published a number of books, including: Thank You Power: Making the Science of Gratitude Work for You (2007), The Power of Respect: Benefit from the Most Forgotten Element of Success (2009); Knit with Deborah Norville (2009); and Back on Track: How to Straighten Out Your Life When It Throws You a Curve (1997.)
Most recently, Deborah Norville published the book The Way We Are: Heroes, Scoundrels, and Oddballs from 25 Years of Inside Addition (2013.) Norville continues to make public appearances and guest anchor for a variety of television programs.
