The American actor Greg Kinnear was born in 1963 in Logansport, Indiana. Kinnear’s father worked for the US State Department, and so young Greg moved around frequently with his family, living in various countries throughout the world. Kinnear got his first taste of public performance while living in Athens, Greece, and attending the American Community Schools. There he began his own radio show, and enjoyed the opportunity for perform for his classmates and community. After returning to the United States, he graduated with a degree in journalism from the University of Arizona, but opportunities to perform steered his life in a different direction.
Greg Kinnear’s first gig was on television, as the host of the then newly created Talk Soup, in 1991. A late night talk show, Later with Greg Kinnear, followed in 1994, but around the same time he was offered the role of David Larrabee in the remake of the classic film Sabrina. The role became a bit of a breakthrough for Kinnear, earning him award nominations and additional offers, including a role in the film As Good as It Gets (1997.)
Kinnear’s performance in As Good as It Gets earned him multiple recognitions, including an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor and set his career on course. Since that time, Greg Kinnear has appeared dozens of films, including: You’ve Got Mail (1998), Nurse Betty (2000), Stuck On You (2003), Fast Food Nation (2006), Invincible (2006), Baby Mama (2008), and Little Miss Sunshine (2006), for which Kinnear again earned a round of accolades and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
Greg Kinnear most recently appeared in the television miniseries The Kennedys, in the role of John F. Kennedy, earning him another Primetime Emmy nomination and Screen Actors Guild Award nomination. He also appeared in the role of Keegan Deane on the television series Rake. Greg Kinnear continues to act in both film and on television.
