American broadcast journalist Deborah Roberts was born in 1960 in Perry, Georgia. Roberts began her career at a local television station in Columbus, but before before that she attended the University of Georgia in Athens, graduating from the school’s Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication with a B.A. in 1982. After a few years at the local WTVM station, Deborah moved to Knoxville and then Orlando, Florida, to co-anchor the weekend news for WFTV.
In 1990, Roberts was offered a job as a report for NBC News, a position which became her national mainstream breakthrough. Since that time, Deborah Roberts has served as a correspondent for Dateline NBC and then later as a correspondent for ABC News and 20/20. She frequently contributes to multiple other platforms, including Primetime, Good Morning America, Nightline, and Lifetime Live, which she costs for the Lifetime Television network.
Most recently, Deborah Roberts and her husband, Al Roker, published the nonfiction book Been There, Done That: Family Wisdom for Modern Times.
