The American actor Dominic Chianese was born in 1931 in the Bronx, New York. Long before the Italian-American actor rose to fame as Corrado “Junior” Soprano on the hit HBO Series the Sopranos, Chianese fell in love with the dramatic arts as a teenager and went on to study theater arts for nearly a decade in college. His earliest gigs were in small roles in Off-Broadway runs, but by the mid 1960’s he was appearing on Broadway in such notable plays as Oliver!
Dominic’s big breakthrough came after he was spotted by Francis Ford Coppola and selected for the role of Johnny Ola in the Godfather Part II. The film would become one of many alongside Al Pacino, who became a close friend of Chianese’s. Pacino and Dominic went on to appear together in the films Dog Day Afternoon (1975), …And Justice for All (1979), and Looking for Richard (1996), although Dominic Chianese can also be seen in: All the President’s Men (1976), Fingers (1978), Fort Apache, the Bronx (1981), Out for Justice (1991), Gotti (1996), Night Falls on Manhattan (1997), Unfaithful (2002), King of the Corner (2004), and Damages (2010.)
As of 2011, Dominic Chianese can be seen in his recurring role on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. He also appeared in three episodes of the series The Good Wife between 2012 and 2014.
