Surfing champion Carissa Kainani Moore was born in 1992 in Hawaii. Like many other children growing up on the island, Carissa fell in love with the beauty of the ocean and its waves, and she began surfing when she was very young. With the committed encouragement of her father, Moore excelled at the sport quickly. By the time she was barely a teenager, Carissa was competing regularly, and she placed third in the ISA Female Junior Finals at the World Junior Surfing Championships in 2005. Eventually, Carissa Moore went on to become one of the youngest surfers to reach the final of an ASP World Title Race event in 2007.
Since that time, Carissa Moore has gone on to become known for her multiple achievements as a competitive surfer, most notably for her unprecedented eleven National Scholastic Surfing Association titles. Between 2008 and 2012, Carissa Moore also won multiple other high-profile events, including: the Reef Hawaiian Pro (2008); the ASP Women’s World Tour Gidget Pro Sunset Beach event (2009); the US Open of Surfing (2010); and the ASP Women’s World Championship, becoming the youngest winner of the title as of 2011. Moore’s most recent achievement occurred in 2013, when she was named champion of the ASP Women’s World Tour.
