In 2006, Ryan Callahan joined the New York Rangers, and he remained with the team up through the 2007 season and Stanley Cup playoffs. Callahan’s career began a slow rise in which he began to truly exhibit his talents during the 2008-2009 year. In the 2008 Victoria Cup, Callahan scored the winning goal for the team with only seconds left in the game; by the end of the season, he finished out ranked third in points and goals for the team. For his achievements, Ryan Callahan was named alternate captain of the team and recognized with the Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award. Eventually, Callahan was named captain of the New York Rangers in 2011.
