The country pop duo Florida Georgia Line was established in the millennium’s first decade, when musicians Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley met while attending Belmont University. Both men had been playing guitar throughout their teenage years, and upon meeting and striking up a friendship, they found their musical tastes and interests to be quite similar.
Florida Georgia Line released its first six-song EP in 2010 and a second EP in 2012. The later, which featured the songs “Cruise,” “It’z Just What We Do,” “Get Your Shine On,” “Tell Me How You Like It,” and “Tip It Back,” garnered the attention of Republic Nashville and Florida George Line signed with the label before releasing a debut album. Here’s to the Good Times arrived in late 2012, and featured many of the same songs on the groups first EPs. With major-label support, both “Cruise” and “Get Your Shine On” rose to the top of the country charts, as did the new single “Round Here,” which hit the number one spot in September of 2013. Eventually, Here’s to the Good Times also rose to the number one spot on the country charts, and Florida Georgia Line won the Academy of Country Music Awards for New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year and New Artist of the Year in 2013.
Currently, Florida Georgia Line has embarked on a nationwide tour alongside Luke Bryan and Thompson Square. The duo is just getting started, with plans for additional album releases and performances coming in the near future.
