The country music group Love and Theft was established in 2006 by founding members Eric Gunderson, Stephen Barker Liles, and Brian Bandas. The group began writing music and recording original material, and performing at whatever opportunities available. One of those opportunities brought them to a group of ASCAP executives, who referred the band to Carolwood Records. In 2009, Love and Theft signed with the label.
Love and Theft’s big breakthrough came when the group embarked on a tour alongside Taylor Swift, serving as her opening act. The band’s debut album, World Wide Open, was released in 2009, and rose into the top ten on the country charts, and also reached into the top forty on the mainstream charts. The album spawned the hit country singles "Runaway," "Dancing in Circles," and the number one country hit "Angel Eyes," which found its way also into the mainstream charts and reached platinum status.
Before the release of their self-titled sophomore album in 2012, Love and Theft became a duo with the departure of Brian Bandas, and re-signed with RCA Nashville. The follow up album was also a success, giving audiences the singles "Runnin’ Out of Air" and "If You Ever Get Lonely." Love and Theft has so far garnered a CMT Music Award for Duo Video of the Year (for "RUnnin’ Out of Air"), and four nominations from the Country Music Association Awards and the Academy of Country Music (for New Artist of the Year, Vocal Duo of the Year, Top New Vocal Duo/Group, and Top Vocal Duo.)
Love and Theft continues to perform and record, and following its upcoming performance dates, will return to the studio to prepare for another album release.
