Country music sensation John Michael Montgomery was born in 1965 in Danville, Kentucky. He learned to play guitar from his father, and when he was a teenager, John Michael teamed up with his relatives to participate in a family band before attempting to launch a solo career. Eventually, in the early 1990’s, Montgomery caught the attention of Atlantic Records, and he signed with the label before releasing Life’s a Dance, his debut album, in 1992.
Life’s a Dance was an enormous hit, rising to the top of the charts and spawning a series of chart-topping hits, including “Life’s a Dance,” “Beer and Bones,” and “I Love the Way You Love Me,” which went on to win the Academy of Country Music Award for Single of the Year. Life’s a Dance rose to multi-platinum status, and paved the way for a career which would eventually span two decades, and featuring hit albums such as: Kickin’ It Up (1994), John Michael Montgomery (1995), What I Do the Best (1996), Leave a Mark (1998), Home to You (1999), Brand New Me (2000), Pictures (2002), Letters form Home (2004), and Time Flies (2008.)
