Travis Tritt was born in 1963 in Georgia. Young Travis fell in love with music at an early age, and began performing at school events when he was still in elementary school. He studied the guitar throughout his youth, and by the time he was a teenager, he’d established his first band, a bluegrass group, and began writing music. Tritt began working on his demos in the mid 1980’s, and by 1987, Travis had garnered the attention of Warner Bros. Nashville, who signed him to his first contract.
Travis Tritt’s debut single, “Country Club,” was released in 1989 and rose to the top of the country charts, peaking in the top ten. The songs “Drift Off to Dream,” “Help Me Hold On,” “Put Some Drive in Your Country,” and “I’m Gonna Be Somebody” fared equally well, and shortly after their success, Tritt’s debut album, Country Club, was released. The album rose to multi-platinum status and earned Travis a nomination for the Country Music Association’s Horizon Award for that year. Since then, Travis Tritt has given audiences a string of successful albums and top ten country singles, including: “Here’s a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares),” “Anymore,” “The Whiskey Ain’t Workin’,” “Can I Trust You with My Heart,” “Foolish Pride,” “Tell Me I Was Dreaming,” “Sometimes She Forgets,” “More Than You’ll Ever Know,” “Where Corn Don’t Grow,” “Best of Intentions,” “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive,” and “Love of a Woman,” five of which hit the number one spot on the country charts and many of which brought Travis Tritt into the mainstream charts as well.
Travis Tritt has so far in his career brought seven albums into the platinum or higher category. He has earned two Grammys (for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals for “The Whiskey Ain’t Workin’,” and “Same Old Train.”) and four Country Music Association Awards. In addition, over the years Travis Tritt has established an acting career, after first appearing in the television series Tales from the Crypt in 1995. He has gone on to appear in a number of shows and films, including: A Holiday for Love (1996), The Long Kill (1999), Diagnosis Murder (1999), Touched by an Angel (1999), Arliss (1999), Yes, Dear (2004), and Fishers of Men (2011.)
Most recently, Travis Tritt recorded “Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough” alongside Tyler Reese, his daughter, released in the summer of 2013. Tritt continues to perform and tour, and is also currently working on his next studio release.
