Lisa Marie Presley was born in 1968 in Memphis, to her famous parents Elvis and Priscilla Presley. Although her parents’ divorce created a tumultuous childhood for young Lisa Marie, she grew up surrounded by the music of her father, which led to en ever-growing love for the art herself. Presley released her debut album, To Whom It May Concern, in 2003, and the album immediately rose into the top five on the mainstream charts, launching Lisa Marie’s career as a writer and performer.
The album spawned the hit singles “Lights Out” and “Sinking In,” and paved the way for Presley’s follow-up albums, Now What (2005) and Storm & Grace (2012.) Lisa Marie’s most recent albums have given audiences the singles “Dirty Laundry,” “Idiot,” and “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet.” In addition to her work as a solo artist, Presley has also collaborated with a number of high-profile musicians and contributed to a number of other projects, including multiple performances for charity.
In fact, Lisa Marie Presley is well known for her philanthropy and humanitarian endeavors. She has been an active voice against the over-medication of children with behavioral challenges such as ADHD, which culminated in legislation signed by President Bush in 2004. She has also created the Literacy, Education and Ability Program (LEAP) and the Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation, which benefits families in economic crisis find housing and childcare.
