Little Big Town was founded in the late 1990’s, when Phillip Sweet, Kimberly Schlapman, Karen Fairchild, and Jimi Westbrook came together to establish the country music group. Little Big Town signed with Monument Records in 2002 and released Little Big Town, their debut in that same year. “Everything Changes” and “Don’t Waste My Time” were the first two songs of the album to be released, and both reached the billboard country charts.
Three years later, Little Big Town switched record labels and released their sophomore effort, The Road to Here, which featured the hits “Boondocks,” “Good as Gone,” “Bring it On Home,” and “A Little More You.” The album eventually went platinum and gave Little Big Town their first top five songs and multiple top twenty hits, launching their career and helping them to gain further recognition in the industry. An additional three albums followed: A Place to Land (2007), The Reason Why (2010), and Tornado (2012), spawning the hit singles: “Fine Line,” “Good Lord Willing,” “Little White Church,” “ Kiss Goodbye,” “The Reason Why,” “Pontoon,” “Tornado,” and most recently, “Your Side of the Bed.”
For their achievements so far, Little Big Town has been recognized with a Country Music Association Award for Single of the Year (for “Pontoon”) and Academy of Country Music Awards for Top New Vocal Duo/Group and Top Vocal Group. In addition, Little Big Town has received nominations for Album of the Year (Academy of Country Music); Best Country Album, Best country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group, and Best Country Duo/Group Performance (Grammy Awards); and Single of the Year: Duo or Group (American country Awards.) The group has embarked on multiple tours since their inception, alongside such notables as Sugarland, George Strait, Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, and Eli Young Band.
So far, Little Big Town has given the country charts fourteen singles, and the group continues to perform and tour, with plans for their next studio album on the horizon.
