Sara Evans was born in 1971 in Boonville, Missouri. Sara grew up in a musical family; even as a child, she was singing with her family in their band, and by the time she was sixteen, she was performing nightly in a nearby club. In 1991, Evans moved to Nashville to pursue a full-time career in music. For the bulk of the 1990’s, she recorded demos and began to garner the attention of record labels. By 1997, Sara Evans had signed with RCA Nashville and released her debut album, Three Chords and the Truth.
Sara’s debut didn’t bring her any top 40 hits, but the album itself reached into the top 40 on the country charts and brought Evans critical acclaim. Sara’s sophomore effort, No Place That Far, fared much better, with the title track reaching not only into the top 40, but all the way to number one on the country charts. The song “Fool, I’m a Woman” also reached into the top 40. The coming years saw Sara Evans release Born to Fly (2000), Restless (2003), Real Fine Place (2005), and Stronger (2011), giving audiences the top ten hits: “Born to Fly,” “I Could Not Ask for More,” “I Keep Looking,” “Perfect,” “Suds in the Bucker,” “A Real Fine Place to Start,” and “A Little Bit Stronger.” Her release of Born to Fly earned her seven nominations at the 2011 Country Music Association Awards, and the title track earned her a CMA for Video of the Year. Just five years later, Sara won her first Academy of Country Music Award for Top Female Vocalist.
With her band’s current lineup of Brent Wilson, Billy McClaran, Jim Bloodgood, Matt Evans, and Kris Donegan, Sara Evans continues to perform live and write music for future albums. Evans began work on her next studio album in 2012, and the album is scheduled for release very soon.
