Born in Madrid, Spain, to his incredibly famous father and Isabel Preysler, Julio Iglesias Jr. moved to Miami with his younger siblings in 1979 following his parents’ divorce. It was in the United States that he attended college, in California, and began to pursue a career in modeling and acting. Iglesias Jr. first entered the entertainment industry as a model; his manager garnered him an exclusive arrangement with the Ford Modeling Agency in New York. Among his first assignments included a Versace campaign, Gap advertisements, and work with John Bartlett VII on Sixth Fashion Show.
Julio Iglesias Jr. then landed an acting role in Out of the Blue, and also a role on one of the Travel Channel’s shows, traveling to Latin America and speaking about Latin culture. It was around this time that he decided to branch out into music. Iglesias earned a bit of a breakthrough as a singer when the film Music of the Heart featured his song “Nothing Else” in 1999. Riding his first wave of success, Julio Iglesias Jr. began work alongside Rodolfo Castillo to produce his debut album, Under My Eyes.
Additional singles from Under My Eyes include “One More Chance” and the title track. Julio followed up with Tercera Dimension in 2003, and Por la Mitad in 2008. Around the same time, Iglesias shifted to a bit to country music, releasing “The Way I Want You,” his country debut, later that same year. But he returned to his Latin roots when in 2014 he joined the band Latin Lovers, alongside fellow musicians Damien Sargue and Nuno Resende. The album features the hit Latin singles “Vous les femmes” and “La camisa negra.”
