Regina Belle grew up singing in her church choir in Englewood, New Jersey. In addition to vocals, she studied a variety of instruments, including drums and tuba.
As a young woman, Regina began performing as the opening act for the Manhattans, and recorded “Where Did We Go Wrong” with them. Her performances eventually attracted the attention of record labels, and she was signed to Columbia Records in the late 1980’s.
All By Myself, Regina Belle’s debut, was released in 1987. Stay with Me followed in 1989, and Belle continued to release a series of successful albums for the next two decades: Passion (1993), Reachin’ Back (1995), Believe in Me (1989), This is Regina! (2001), Lazy Afternoon (2004), Love Forever Shines (2008), and Higher (2012.) Charting singles include “Show Me The Way,” “Without You,” “Baby Come to Me,” “Make It Like It Was,” “If I Could,” and the smash hit duet with Peabo Bryson, “A Whole New World,” which brought Regina Belle a Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group in 1994.
Regina Belle remains an iconic performer who continues to delight her fans with performances and appearances. Belle recently released her latest album, The Day Life Began, in 2016. She continues to appear in concnert, quite often alongside such notable performers as Al Jarreau, Paul Taylor, Frankie Beverly, and Stephanie Mills.
