The Latin American boy band known as CNCO was formed at the end of the first season of the reality series, La Banda. After the competition concluded, the members of the band—Richard Camacho, Joel Pimentel, Zabdiel De Jesus, Christopher Velez, and Erick Brian Colon—were assembled by the show’s producers, Simon Cowell and Ricky Martin. Martin himself then brought them on tour with him and helped to produce their first two singles, “Quisiera” and “Tan Facil.”
CNCO released their debut album, Primera Cita, in 2016, and the response was overwhelming. The album earned the group countless award nominations, including six Premios Juventud awards and three Latin American Music Awards (for Favorite Pop/Rock New Artist, Favorite Pop/Rock Duo or Group, and Xfinity New Artist of the Year.) In 2017, they opened for Ariana Grande on her world tour, and then immediately after did the same for Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull on their tour.
Since their meteoric rise, CNCO has released a second self-titled album in 2018, earning three Billboard Latin Music Awards (for Latin Pop Artist of the Year, Latin Pop Album of the Year, and Latin Rhythm Artist of the Year) and additional nominations from the Pop Hub Awards and the Latin AMA’s. Clearly, CNCO is the latest Latin music sensation and a group destined for future success. CNCO recently released their first extend play, “Que Quienes Somos,” and wrapped a 2018-2019 World Tour. They are now preparing to enter the studio for their next studio album, expected in the coming year.
