Kenny Loggins moved from Everett, Washington to Los Angeles when he was only six years old. Loggins found himself drawn to music as a child, and even became a staff writer for a music-publishing company when he was only eighteen.
It was his talent as a songwriter that brought Kenny Loggins to the attention of Jim Messina, the record producer and former Buffalo Springfield member. Instead of producing Loggins and launching him on a solo career, Kenny Loggins and Messina formed their own band.
Six multi-platinum and eight gold albums later, Loggins and Messina had assembled a stream of hits, including “Angry Eyes,” Danny’s Song,” “Your Mama Don’t Dance,” and “House at Pooh Corner.” When they eventually parted ways, Kenny Loggins’ solo career took off and began to rise quickly.
Kenny Loggins’ first three solo albums - Celebrate Me Home, Nightwatch, and Keep the Fire – all went platinum and his album Vox Humana was certified gold. Loggins was awarded The Grammy Song of the Year for “What a Fool Believes,” and Best Pop Vocal for “This is It.”
But it was the title song for the soundtrack for the film Footloose that brought Kenny Loggins not only household recognition, but an Academy Award nomination. 1980’s Alive and 1982’s High Adventure would follow, both selling beyond the half million mark in the United States.
In the 1990’s Kenny Loggins found himself drawn to conversation and environmental causes, which led to a variety of endeavors, including: Outside: From The Redwoods; a performance for Earth Day in 1995, from the National Mall in Washington, D.C.; and a TV special titled “This Island Earth,” originally airing on the Disney Channel.
In 2007, Kenny Logins was inducted into Hollywood’s Sunset Boulevard RockWalk, and two years later he successfully toured with Messina throughout Canada and the United States.
Kenny Loggins completed a short tour of South East Asia in 2011. He continues to write, record, and perform.
