Leon Bridges Biography
The American gospel and soul singer Leon Bridges was born in 1989 in Texas. Bridges grew up in the Fort Worth area, learning to play guitar while still a child and frequenting open-mic opportunities as a teenager. Eventually, Leon’s performances caught the attention of Columbia Records, particularly his song “Coming Home,” and he signed to the label in 2014.
“Coming Home” was released as Bridges’s major label debut, and the song was an immediate hit. After performing at the SXSW festival and then the Sundance Festival, Leon released his debut album, also titled Coming Home. The album was also enormously successful, earning Leon Bridges both commercial and critical acclaim, plus a Grammy Award nomination for Best R&B Album.
Since that time, Leon Bridges has risen to become one of soul’s rising stars, and definitely one to watch in the coming years. Bridges recently performed on Saturday Night Live, singing his latest single, “Smooth Sailin.”
