The Australian DJ and producer known as Dirty South was born Dragan Roganovic in Yugoslavia in 1978. Roganovic began producing and mixing as a DJ when he was still a teenager, shortly after moving to Melbourne at the age of thirteen. By the turn of the millennium, he’d adopted the moniker Dirty South and began producing his own tracks and remixes, eventually garnering the attention of Vicious Vinyl records.
Dirty South signed to the label in 2005, and since that time, has given audiences the songs “It’s Too Late (Ride On),” “Open Your Heart,” “How Soon Is Now,” “Alive,” and the remixes “Leave the World Behind” ( Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and others); “Me and You” (Nero); “Rise” (Michael Brun); and “Embrace Me” (John Dahlback.) Other notable remixes including “Reach For Me,” “Higher State of Consciousness,” “Feels Like Home,” and “Let it Go.” For his work so far, Dirty South has been recognized with two ARIA awards in Australia and two Grammy Awards for Best Remix Recording (for Kascade’s “Sorry” and The Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition,” which was produced alongside Axwell.)
Dirty South recently released the album Speed of Life in 2013. He currently ranks on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ poll, and has appeared on the list every year since 2007.
