Ansølo Biography

The American actor and singer known as Ansolo was born Ansel Elgort in 1994 in Manhattan. Today, Elgort is best known for his role as Augustus Waters in the film The Fault in Our Stars (2014), but long before his big breakthrough, Elgort grew up in the world of entertainment; his mother is an opera director and his father is a fashion photographer. Ansel was encouraged by his parents to pursue interests in the arts – by the time he was twelve he’d started acting classes and was attending highly competitive performing arts schools in New York City.

Ansel’s film debut was in the 2013 remake of the classic 70’s film Carrie, followed by his role as Caleb Prior in The Divergent Series (2014.) For his role in The Fault in Our Stars, Ansel Elgort earned a Young Hollywood Award for Fan Favorite Actor – Male. But most recently, Elgort adopted the moniker “Ansolo” to launch a secondary career as an electronic dance musician. Ansolo’s debut single, “Unite,” was released in 2014 via iTunes, followed by a second single, “Totem,” shortly thereafter. Within a year, Ansolo had garnered the interest of Island/Universal Records, and he signed with the label in 2015.

Since that time, Ansolo has served as opening act for The Chainsmokers, performed at the Electric Zoo Festival, and played his first headlining performance in New York City, on his twenty-first birthday. Ansolo released his major label debut single, “Home Alone,” in 2016, to favorable reviews. Although his career as a musician is on the rise, Elgort continues his film career at the same time. He recently appeared in the 2017 films November Criminals and Billionaire Boys Club and is slated to appear in others for 2018.
