The Norwegian DJ, musician, and producer known as Kygo was born Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll in 1991. Kygo’s interest in music began as a young child, and he studied piano from the time he was only six years old all the way up through his teenage years. At the age of sixteen, Kygo began producing his own music on a MIDI Keyboard, and he experimented with the technology all the way up through his college years, where he was initially pursuing a degree in business and finance in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Kygo burst onto the music scene in late 2014, with the remix of Ed Sheeran’s single “I See Fire,” which became an internet sensation. It wasn’t long before Kygo’s talents were in demand from such high profile artists as Chris Martin and Avicii, both of whom contacted him directly for collaborations on additional remixes. Through most of 2015, Kygo was incredibly busy, recording and releasing the additional chart-topping singles: “Stole the Show” (Parson James); “Sexual Healing” (Marvin Gaye); “Nothing Left” (Will Heard); “Here for You” (Ella Henderson); “Stay” (Maty Noyes); “Fragile” (Labrinth); and “Raging” ( Kodaline.)
Kygo recently released his debut album, Cloud Nine, in 2016. The album rose to the number one spot in Norway and Switzerland, and broke into the top five in Finland, New Zealand, Sweden, and the UK.
