The indie band known as Miike Snow was established in Stockholm, Sweden in 2007, founded by members Andrew Wyatt, Pontus Winnberg, and Christian Karlsson (the latter two making up the production team known as Bloodshy & Avant.) Bloodyshy & Avant had produced a number of successful tracks for such notable artists as Kylie Minogue and Madonna, and even had a Grammy for Britney Spears’s “Toxic” under their belt, before they teamed up with Andrew Wyatt, an American songwriter to create Miike Snow.
Miike Snow released a self-titled debut album in 2009, featuring the hit songs “Animal” and “Black Y Blue.” The follow-up album Happy to You arrived three years later in 2012, but in between those years Miike Snow also made a name for themselves through their remixes. Notable tracks from Miike Snow include works by such artists as Kings of Leon, Depeche Mode, Vampire Weekend, Passion Pit, Peter Bjorn and John, and I Blame Coco. Their own music has also been frequently remixed and sampled.
Most recently, Miike Snow was recognized as an emerging artist at the European Border Breakers Awards in 2011. The group also recently completed an extensive United States tour in 2012, and now Miike Snow has plans to return to the studio to continue work on new material.
