Largely inspired by musicians such as Grandmaster Flash, DJ Cash Money was part of the Philly hip hop scene that included such notable artists as Jazzy Jeff. Throughout the 1980’s, Cash Money rose to become one of the era’s most recognizable DJ’s, perfecting the Transform scratch and collaborating with artists such as MC Marvelous, with whom he produced and released the singles “Ugly People be Quiet,” “Find an Ugly Woman,” and “New Sheriff in Town,” which appear on the album Where’s the Party At? Later on in his career, Cash Money produced tracks and remixed singles for performers such as Public Enemy, Busta Rhymes, and Snoop Dogg.
In 1988, Cash Money won the DMC World DJ Championships, one of many accolades from his peers in the industry. A decade later, DJ Cash Money became the first DJ inducted into the Hall of Fame.
