Galantis Biography
The electronic music duo known as Galantis was established in 2012 by Grammy Award winning producer Christian Karlsson and producer Linus Eklow. The two musicians met 2007, when Karlsson approached Eklow to ask him to remix Miike Snow’s hit single, “Animal.” The business arrangement led to further collaborations, and by 2012 the duo had started writing and recording together.
After signing to Atlantic Records, Galantis entered the studio to prepare for a debut single and album. The song “Smile” was released to mixed reviews and a very controversial music video, but it also began to garner Galantis significant attention. The song “You” arrived next, followed by the duo’s self-titled EP, released in spring of 2014. But it was the song “Runaway (U & I)” which became the duo’s big breakthrough, rising to the top of the charts internationally and setting the stage for the highly successful debut album, Pharmacy.
Since that time, Galantis has also released the singles “Gold Dust,” “Peanut Butter Jelly,” and “In My Head.” The duo debuted their live performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2014, and the show quickly became recognized as among the best Dance performances of the event. A live tour followed, which recently brought Galantis around the world to performances in California, Washington, Chicago, New York, Miami, and various locations in Canada. The duo also performed in Thailand and South Korea.
