The artist known as Tove Lo was born Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson in 1987. As a young girl, Ebba Tove enjoyed writing her own poetry and short stories, and so it was no surprise when her first jobs in the music industry were in the role of songwriter to other artists. Before launching her own solo career, Tove Lo wrote music for Girls Aloud and Icona Pop, but in 2012, she released her debut single, “Love Ballad.”
“Love Ballad” was a moderate hit for Tove Lo, but her big breakthrough came with the smash hit “Habits,” which arrived in 2013 and earned the artist significant accolades from her peers. But upon its re-release later in the year, “Habits (Stay High),” began to rocket to the top of the charts internationally, including the charts in the United States, where it rose to the number three spot. Around the same time, Tove Lo also appeared as a guest artist on Lucas Nord’s song “Run on Love,” and on the song “Stranger,” in collaboration with Seven Lions and Myon & Shane 54. In October of 2013, Tove Lo also released her third single, “Out of Mind,” and her voice can also be heard on Alesso’s smash-hit song “Heroes (We Could Be.)”
Tove Lo is definitely a star on the rise and one to watch. She most recently released her first EP, Truth Serum, in 2014, and played her first US gig in March of that year. In December of 2014, Tove Lo toured as an opening act for Katy Perry, and her debut album, Queen of the Clouds, is scheduled to release in 2015.
