The American singer and producer Meghan Trainor was born in 1993 in Nantucket, Massachusetts. Before Meghan rose to fame with her smash hit single “All About That Bass” in 2014, she spent her formative years studying songwriting and learning to compose her own music on the family computer. Throughout high school, Trainor attended Berklee College of Music, enrolling in a variety of summer programs to help further build her skills.
Meghan Trainor’s first breakthrough came after she won a song contest. Her talents garnered her a contract with Big Yellow Dog Music as a composer, while she was still only seventeen years old and in high school. Eventually, Trainor settled in Nashville, Tennesse, where she began writing music for a number of notable artists, including Sabrina Carpenter and Rascal Flatts. Eventually, she teamed up with producer Kevin Kadish to craft her breakthrough single, “All About That Bass,” which rose to the number one spot on the mainstream charts not only in the United States, but in New Zealand, Canada, Australia, and many other countries.
“All About That Bass” set the stage for Meghan’s debut album, Title, which also rose into the top twenty on the mainstream album charts. The album and single also earned Meghan Trainor multiple award nominations, including: New Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards; Favorite Breakout Artist and Favorite Song at the People’s Choice Awards, and Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the Grammy Awards.
Most recently, Meghan Trainor announced her first headlining tour, titled That Bass Tour. The tour is scheduled to begin in February of 2015 and will focus mainly on North American cities. Meghan Trainor is just getting started, although her career is certainly off to an impressive start. Expect for Trainor to continue performing and recording in the coming years, with another album release on the horizon.
