Megan Thee Stallion is an American rapper and singer born Megan Pete in 1995. She was born in Houston, Texas, and spent her high school time in Pearland, Texas. Her mother was a rapper and often brought Stallion to her study sessions when she was just a toddler. Stallion began writing her own bars at age 16 and went viral in college at Prairie View A&M University when cypher videos went across social media. In 2016, she released her debut mixtape Rich Ratchet and her debut single “Like a Stallion.” The next year she dropped her debut EP Make It Hot, which garnered her a stronger fanbase.
Megan Thee Stallion would ink a deal with 1501 Certified Entertainment in 2018 and release a critically acclaimed EP entitled Tina Snow, which got her a new record deal from 300 Entertainment. Her single “Big Ole Freak” became her first single to chart and started off her hot streak in 2019 that included Stallion’s latest project Fever, her placement in the XXL Freshmen Class, features on Chance the Rapper and Quality Control’s albums, and the single “Hot Girl Summer” which set social media ablaze.
Her Tina Snow EP peaked at #166 on the Billboard 200, with the single “Big Ole Freak” peaking at #65 on the Billboard Hot 100 and being certified Gold. Stallion’s Fever peaked at #10 on the Billboard 200 and included a Platinum single with Da Baby entitled “Cash Shit,” which peaked at #36. “Hot Girl Summer” was also certified Platinum and peaked at #11 on the Hot 100 for Stallion.
Stallion recently performed on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series and signed a new management deal with Roc Nation.
