Christopher Titus was born in 1964 and grew up in Newark, California. Titus had a difficult childhood, fraught with an unstable childhood and painful experiences, including the suicide of his mother and frequent changes in guardianship, leaving him with unstable experiences that led to his adolescent struggle with alcohol and drugs. A profound experiences as a teenager led him to commit to a healthier lifestyle, and Titus found his solace in comedy.
After experiencing success with his stand-up at the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal in the late 1990’s, Chris brought his one-man show, Norman Rockwell is Bleeding, to the Centaur Theater in 2000. The show was enormously successful, and spawned the hit CD and DVD, released in 2008 and 2010. Titus’s 5th Annual End of the World Tour premiered in 2007 on Comedy Central, and his follow-ups, Love is Evol (2008), and Neverlution (2010) were met with critical acclaim.
But it is the FOX show Titus, for which Christopher Titus serves not only as star but also writer and producer, with which he is the most associated. The show ran for two years, between 2000 and 2002, and is based on Norman Rockwell is Bleeding. The show earned Titus nominations for an Emmys and a Writer’s Guild Award, and despite its early cancellation, it was received with critical accolades. After the show was cancelled, Chris Titus experimented with a number of different projects, and has most recently been airing a successful podcast from The Combustion Lounge. The show climbed into the top ten on iTunes podcasts and features weekly topical news infused with comedic commentary.
Christopher Titus has also appeared on dozens of television series and late-night talk shows, including Comedy Central’s Premium Blend and USO Comedy Tour, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Politically Incorrect, Yes, Dear, 21 Jump Street, Jenny, and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. His current live show, The Voice in My Head, was filmed at the Fresno Tower Theater in 2013.
