Tone Bell Biography

Tone Bell Biography

American actor and comedian Tone Bell was born Michael Anthony Bell in 1983 in Georgia. Bell grew up in the Atlanta area, where he spent his teenage years active in his school’s television and film program. While a student at Savannah State University, Tone served as the school’s mascot and continued his studies in film and television, although his first job after graduating was as a first-grade teacher.

After leaving the classroom, Tone Bell worked in a number of different jobs, including serving as a warm-up comedian for HBO and working as a promoter for a beer company. The latter gig moved him to Texas, where he began to appear throughout the Dallas area at various open-mic opportunities. It became clear that Tone had a knack for comedy, and so he moved to Los Angeles to further his career endeavors.

After winning the 2012 NBC Stand Up for Diversity Talent Search, Bell began to appear on multiple television shows, and in a number of films, including: Whitney, Bad Judge, Key and Peele, Mind of a Man, Jerks with Cameras, and Chelsea Lately. Tone Bell also hosts a web series called The Green Room, which appears on the YouTube Def Digital channel. Bell’s most recent appearance has been on the television series Truth Be Told, in the role of Russell.
