Roy Wood Jr. is an American comedian and actor born in 1978. He was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, before choosing to go to Florida A&M University. Wood Jr. would soon work as a report in the college’s city and began to focus on a career in comedy after filling in for the regular comedian on the program.
Roy Wood Jr. would continue honing his comedy skills on radio programs until the 2010s when he began to make waves on late-night television programs. He competed on NBC’s Last Comic Standing in 2010 and earned 7th place. He would eventually join The Daily Show as a correspondent in 2015.
Roy Wood Jr. has had two standup specials air on Comedy Central. His standup comedy has been performed on many television programs including Def Comedy Jam and Conan, among others. Roy Wood Jr. has had his work featured in numerous publications including The New York Times and Variety Magazine, among others.
Roy Wood Jr. recently starred in his second stand-up comedy special entitled Roy Wood Jr.: No One Loves You in 2019.
