Greg Behrendt was born in 1963. After graduating from the University of Oregon with a degree in theater, Behrendt moved to San Francisco in the early 1990’s and began performing stand-up in the area. He joined a few improv groups and even made the acquaintance of such notable performers as David Cross, Patton Oswalt, and Margaret Cho. His first appearances on the Tonight Show and Late Night with Conan O’Brien were successful enough to eventually earn him a stand-up special on Comedy Central.
Greg Behrendt is Uncool debuted on the network in 2006, and immediately following, he started working as a script consultant for Sex and the City on HBO. But it was his 2004 book, He’s Just Not That Into You, which became a smash hit, and within a short period of time, Greg found notoriety for his comedic insights into relationships, appearing to discuss the book on a variety of high-profile talk shows, including Oprah. The book was eventually adapted into a feature film in 2009.
Behrendt followed up the success of the book with two others, It’s Called a Breakup Because It’s Broken: The Smart Girl’s Break-Up Buddy (2006), and It’s Just a Date: How to Get ‘em, How to Read ‘em, and How to Rock ‘em (2008.) The buzz surrounding his advise for women led to The Greg Behrendt Show, which ran from 2006 to 2007, and Greg Behrendt’s Wake-Up Call, which aired in 2009. Greg also has three comedy albums thus far, Greg Behrendt Is Uncool (2006), That Guy From That Thing (2009), and Original Uncool (2011.) He most recently began a podcast alongside his friend, Dave Anthony, called Walking the Room.
