Bowling for Soup was established in 1994 in Wichita Falls when members Jaret Reddick, Chris Burney, Erik Chandler, and Gary Wiseman came together to create the rock band. All founding members had performed with other bands prior, and after crossing paths a number of times they decided to create their own group, and Bowling for Soup was born.
The group’s debut album, Bowling for Soup, was released in 1994, and was followed by the album Cell Mates two years later. Bowling for Soup’s third effort, Rock on Honorable Ones!! (1997), caught the attention of Jive Records and the band signed with the label shortly thereafter. Since that time, Bowling for Soup has released the albums: Let’s Do It for Johnny!! (2000), Drunk Enough to Dance (2002), A Hangover You Don’t Deserve (2004), Bowling for Soup Goes to the Movies (2005), The Great Burrito Extortion Case (2006), Sorry for Partyin’ (2009), and Fishin’ for Woos (2011.) The albums spawned the hit singles “Almost,” “Punk Rock 101,” “High School Never Ends,” “1985,” and the Grammy Award nominated single “Girl All the Bad Guys Want.”
Although Bowling for Soup has only placed one album in the top 40 (A Hangover You Don’t Deserve), the band has enjoyed a consistent and loyal following. Bowling for Soup has also contributed the song “I Melt With You” for the Disney film Sky High, and sings the theme song to the television show Phineas and Ferb. Most recently, Bowling for Soup finished work on their latest studio release, Lunch. Drunk. Love, set for release in the fall of 2013.
