The rock band Stone Sour was created in the early 1990’s, founded by Corey Taylor, Shawn Economaki, and Joel Ekman. A few years later, Jim Root joined the band to round out Stone Sour’s lineup, and the group released their first demo in 1996. Taylor and Root simultaneously began performing with Slipknot, though, and some additional changes to the lineup resulted, but in 2002 Stone Sour successfully released their self-titled debut, to critical acclaim and commercial success.
Stone Sour rose into the Billboard charts and spawned the top 10 singles “Bother,” “Get Inside,” and “Inhale,” garnering the band two Grammy nominations for Best Metal Performance. Although Stone Sour rose to gold status, for a variety of reasons the band members embarked on a hiatus until 2006, when they returned to release Come What(ever) May. Since that time, Stone Sour has released the albums Audio Secrecy (2010), House of Gold & Bones – Part 1 (2012), and House of Gold & Bones – Part 2 (2013), spawning the hit singles “30/30-150,” “Through Glass,” “Sillyworld,” “Made of Scars,” “Say You’ll Haunt Me,” “Digital (Did You Tell),” “Hesitate,” “Absolute Zero,” “Do Me a Favor,” and “Tired.”
Stone Sour continues to perform and record with the current lineup of Corey Taylor, James Root, Josh Rand, and Roy Mayorga. The band most recently began work on its next album and performed at the Soundwave Festival in Australia in 2013. So far, Stone Sour has sold more than four million albums worldwide.
