Black Crowes is an American band formed in 1984. The group consists of founding members Chris Robinson and Rich Robinson while including Isaiah Mitchell, Tim Lefebvre, Raj Ojha, and Joel Robinow. Black Crowes came together in Marietta, Georgia, and would play local gigs in their first couple of years.
Black Crowes would soon perfect their material while touring and release their debut album in 1990 entitled Shake Your Money Maker. The album would feature a handful of successful singles and shoot the band into fame as they performed with the likes of ZZ Top and Metallica, among others. The band would eventually go on hiatus from 2002 to 2005, and again from 2015 to 2019.
Black Crowes debut album would be certified quintuple Platinum and peak at #4 on the Billboard 200. Their followup album The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion would be certified double Platinum and top the Billboard 200. Black Crowes’ most successful single commercially would be “Hard to Handle” which peaked at #26 on the Billboard Hot 100 and top the US Rock chart.
Black Crowes recently have reunited for the third time and will tour for the 30th anniversary of their debut album Shake Your Money Maker in 2020.
