Foals is a British alternative rock group formed in 2005. The band currently consists of Yannis Philippakis on lead vocals and guitar as well as some bass, Jimmy Smith on keyboards and synths, Jack Bevan on drums, and Edwin Congreave on keyboards as well, along with Kit Monteith and Jackfreeman as exclusive touring members. Foals began in Oxford and signed to Transgressive Records before officially releasing music in 2007.
Their debut album Antidotes would release the following year. Over the coming years, Foals would see success on BBC Radio 1 and receive multiple placements for songs in major British television series. Their third project, Holy Fire, would release in 2013 to critical acclaim and put them in headphones across the globe. This included their breakout single, “My Number.” The Foals would continue releasing music to positive feedback from critics and fans and have released six total studio albums, including the 2018 and 2019 two-part project Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost.
The Foals studio albums have charted at least #8 in the UK, including five top 3 finishes and one chart-topper for their second part to ENSWBL. They have four Gold-certified albums and one Silver from the BPI. “My Number” was certified Platinum for the Foals and peaked at #23 in the UK and #20 on the US Alternative charts. A later single, “Mountain at My Gates,” topped the US Alternative charts and peaked at #18 on the US Rock chart.
Foals currently pushed back their latest tour to 2021 and released Collected Reworks Vol. 1 & Vol. 2, which feature remixes and such of their more well-known records.
