The pop rock band Hot Chelle Rae was established in 2005 in Nashville, after founding members Nash Overstreet and Ryan Follese met with Ian Keaggy and formed the band. Jamie Follese came on board shortly thereafter, and Hot Chelle Rae began performing about two years later. Nash Overstreet had already grown up in a household well acquainted with the music industry, as the son of country music artist Paul Overstreet, and alongside his new band mates he began to make plans which would help Hot Chelle Rae gain exposure.
Shortly after a performance at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Hot Chelle Rae embarked on a tour as Vedera’s opening act and entered the studio to begin work on their debut album. After signing with Jive Records, Lovesick Electric was released in 2009, followed by Whatever in 2011. Both albums performed well, and spawned the singles “Bleed,” “Tonight Tonight,” “I Like It Like That,” and “Honestly.” In 2011, Hot Chelle Rae performed for Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin’ Eve, and earned the Spring New Artist of the Year Award at the American Music Awards.
Hot Chelle Rae is just getting started, but they have already established a strong following and are definitely a star on the rise. Most recently, Hot Chelle Rae toured with Demi Lovato and released a new single, “Hung Up,” as a preview for their next and upcoming studio album, set for release in 2013.
