The rock band Lifehouse rose to stardom shortly after the start of the new millennium, with the top five single “Hanging by a Moment.” Lifehouse began originally as the brainchild of musician Jason Wade, who’d started writing his own music when he was still a teenager. A friendship with Sergio Andrade, who he met after moving to Los Angeles, spawned a musical relationship which led to a number of life performances around the local area, mainly for high schools and colleges.
Lifehouse eventually caught the attention of DreamWorks Records, which signed them to the label in 2000, and immediately the band members went to work remixing and re-recording material which had previously appeared on their self-released album Diff’s Lucky Day (under the band name Blyss.) No Name Face was the result, and it debuted later that same year to critical acclaim and commercial success, eventually selling more than four million copies. The album featured Lifehouse’s smash hit “Hanging by a Moment,” in addition to the hit singles “Everything” and “Somewhere in Between.”
Lifehouse’s self-titled sophomore effort was an even bigger hit, in part due to the strength of the song “You and Me,” which rose to the top five on the billboard charts and remained on the charts for a staggering sixty-two weeks. The song made its way into a number of hit television shows (including Boston Legal, Grey’s Anatomy, Cold Case, and Medium), in addition to hundreds of weddings around the country as a favorite theme for brides and grooms. With Lifehouse, the band firmly established themselves as pop rock superstars, and ever since, the band has enjoyed a steady stream of commercial and critical success.
Since then, Lifehouse has given audiences the additional albums Who We Are (2007) and Smoke & Mirrors (2010), and the hit singles: “Blind,” “ First Time,” “Whatever It Takes,” “Broken,” “Halfway Gone,” “All In,” and “Falling In.” Lifehouse continues to perform and record with the current lineup of Bryce Soderberg, Jason Wade, Rick Woolstenhulme, Jr., and Ben Carey. So far, the band has sold more than fifteen million records worldwide, and although they recently announced a hiatus, before doing so they released the 2012 album, Almeria.
