Gavin Rossdale initially rose to fame as the lead singer of the English rock band Bush. He was born in 1965 in London and grew up in the area, although his mother and father separated when he was young and she moved to the United States. Rossdale’s first band, which he formed while still in high school, was called Midnight, but shortly after leaving school he set his sights for United States, where he ventured to Los Angeles and then New York.
While in New York, Gavin Rossdale formed the band which would eventually be called Bush, and for the next decade he served as the front man for the band which would enjoy tremendous commercial success. Bush released a number of highly successful albums between 1992 and 2002, including: Sixteen Stone, Razorblade Suitcase, Deconstructed, the Science of Things, and Golden State. The band embarked on a hiatus in 2002, and by 2004 Gavin Rossdale had formed another group, Institute, although the band would only last for two years. In 2007, Rossdale embarked on a solo career, and found much greater success on his own.
WANDERlust, Gavin Rossdale’s solo debut, was an enormous success upon its release in 2008, climbing into the top 40 on the album charts and spawning the alternative hit singles “Adrenaline,” and “Love Remains the Same.” Two years later, though, Bush reunited for a new album, The Sea of Memories, released in 2011. Although Rossdale has continued to perform and record with Bush, he also maintains a solo career and has even branched into acting, appearing in the films Constantine (2005), Mayor of the Sunset Strip (2004), Little Black Book (2004), The Game of Their Lives (2005), How to Rob a Bank (2008), and appearances on such television shows as Criminal Minds and Burn Notice.
