The Australian electronic rock band known as Pendulum ease established in 2002 by founding members Paul Harding, Gareth McGrillen, and Rob Swire. The three musicians/DJs initially met in Perth and began to write and produce electronic music together. Initially, they began working as a trio of DJ’s, performing at various clubs around Perth, but after rounding out the lineup with KJ Sawka, Peredur ap Gwynedd, and Ben Mount, they decided to form the electronic band Pendulum.
Three years later, Pendulum released the debut album Hold Your Colour, which rose into the top forty in both the UK and Australia. The album In Silico fared even better upon its release in 2008, reaching into the top ten, but it was Pendulum’s third album, Immersion, which became the band’s big breakthrough in 2010. The album reached the number one spot in Australia, the number three spot in the UK, and spawned the international breakthrough single “Watercolour.”
Other notable singles from Pendulum include: “Witchcraft,” “The Island,” “Crush,” and “Ransom.” The band has also been featured on Baron’s “Guns at Dawn,” and two tracks from Freestyler – “Painkiller” and “Security.” Although Pendulum now consists of its original core DJs, with the other members having left in 2012 to work on other projects, they do continue to perform regularly and still have a strong following.
