Eric burst onto the music scene in 1996 with his highly successful solo album, True to Myself, which featured the R&B hits “Let’s Stay Together,” “Femininity,” and “Spiritual Thang.” His popularity got an early boost when “Let’s Stay Together” was included in the soundtrack to the film A Thin Line Between Love and Hate, setting the stage for a career which has since lasted into the new millennium.
Since that time, Eric Benet has released the albums: A Day in the Life (1999), Better and Better (2001), Hurricane (2005), Love & Life (2008), Lost in Time (2010), and The One (2012.) The albums featured the hit R&B songs “Georgy Porgy” (with Faith Evans), “Spend My Life with You” (with Tamia), “When You Think of Me,” “Love Don’t Love Me,” “I Wanna Be Loved,” “Pretty Baby,” “You’re the Only One,” “Chocolate Legs,” and “Sometimes I Cry.” Eric also collaborated with Mariah Carey (on “Want You,” featured in the film Glitter); JeA (on “Days & Nights”); and Fiestar (on “Whoo!”) Benet’s music has earned him multiple awards, including four Grammy nominations, a Black Reel Award for Best Song (for “Love Don’t Love Me”), and an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Song (for “Spent My Life With You.”)
