The vocalist and performer Kenny Lattimore grew up in Greenbelt, Maryland. While in high school, young Kenny developed an interest in music composition and performance while participating in his school’s band program. Following his college studies at Howard University in Washington, D.C., Lattimore began working as a session vocalist for the group Maniquin before the group members decided to bring him on as lead singer. With Maniquin, Kenny enjoyed moderate success for a short period of time, until in the 1990’s he left the group to launch a solo career.
Lattimore’s self-titled debut album was released in 1996 and was a smash hit, spawning the top twenty singles “For You” and “Never Too Busy,” the former of which became a favorite for wedding couples and earned Kenny a Grammy nomination. In the years following, Kenny Lattimore released the additional albums From the Soul of Man (1998) and Weekend (2001), until in 2002 he married R&B singer Chante Moore and the two began a career as a duo. With Chante, Lattimore released the albums Things That Lovers Do (2003) and Uncovered/Covered (2006), featuring the songs: “Loveable (From Your Head To Your Toes),” “You Don’t Have to Cry,” “Tonight,” “Figure It Out,” and “Make Me Like the Moon.”
In recent years, Kenny Lattimore has returned to solo projects, releasing the album Timeless in 2008 and most recently, the album Back 2 Cool in 2014. The album coincides with the establishment of his own record company, SincereSoul Records. In addition to his own music, Kenny Lattimore can be heard in collaboration with a number of artists, including Ray J (“Everything You Want” and “Because of You”); Peter White (“River”); Heather Headley (“Love Will Find a Way”); Brian Culbertson (“Someone” and “Another Love”); and Heather B. (“Nobody Knows You.”).
