The actress and singer Christina Milian was born Christine Flores in 1981 in Jersey City, New Jersey. Milian began her career as a performer quite young, accepting small acting roles when she was still in elementary school, and so the family moved to Los Angeles to try and help her launch a career as a performer.
In Los Angeles, Milian served as a host for the Disney Channel, and within a short period of time she began writing songs and collaborating with other musicians. Her first major role as a musician was an appearance on Ja Rule’s song “Between Me and You,” which rose into the top the charts. It wasn’t long before Milian garnered the attention of Def Jam Records, and she signed to the label when she was only nineteen years old.
Her debut album, Christina Milian, followed shortly thereafter in 2001, and featured the chart-topping singles “When You Look at Me” and “AM to PM.” The albums It’s About Time (2004) and So Amazin’ (2006) followed, featuring the singles: “Dip It Low” (with Fabolous); “Whatever U Want” (with Joe Budden); “Say I” (featuring Young Jeezy); “Us Against the World,” and “Hello” (with Lil’ Wayne.)
In addition to her work in music, Christina Milian has also launched an acting career, with appearances in the films: Love Don’t Cost a Thing (2003), Be Cool (2005), Pulse (2006.) She also appeared on the television shows Sister, Sister and The Steve Harvey Show. In recent years, she has become well-known for her work on the television series The Voice, and also for her appearance as a contestant on the 17th season of Dancing with the Stars.
Most recently, Milian has switched record labels, signing with Interscope Records. She also appeared in the 2013 film, Baggage Claim. Christina Milian continues to record, perform, and appear in films and on television.
